Molding Plane Iron Blanks

Made of annealed AISI O1 tool steel. The Tapered Molding Plane Iron Blanks offered are designed to cover all the widths necessary to create a full set of Hollows and Rounds. All are 8″ (20.32cm) long, have a bit length of 2-3/16″ (5.55cm) and are tapered from 1/8″ (3.17mm) to 1/16″ (1.58mm) over the total length of the blade.

Sizing Information:

• 1/4″ (6.35mm) blade width, 3/32″ (2.38mm) tang width.
  For numbers 1 & 2 hollows and rounds.

• 3/8″ (9.52mm) blade width, 3/32″ (2.38mm) tang width.
  For numbers 3 & 4 hollows and rounds.

• 1/2″ (1.27cm) blade width, 5/32″ (3.96mm) tang width.
  For numbers 5 & 6 hollows and rounds.

• 5/8″ (1.58cm) blade width, 11/64″ (4.36mm) tang width.
  For numbers 7 & 8 hollows and rounds.

• 3/4″ (1.90cm) blade width, 3/16″ (4.76mm) tang width.
  For numbers 9 & 10 hollows and rounds.

• 7/8″ (2.22cm) blade width, 7/32″ (5.55mm) tang width.
  For numbers 11 & 12 hollows and rounds.

• 1-1/8″ (2.85cm) blade width, 9/32″ (7.14mm) tang width.
  For numbers 13 & 14 hollows and rounds.

• 1-3/8″ (3.49cm) blade width, 11/32″ (8.73mm) tang width.
  For numbers 15 & 16 hollows and rounds.

• 1-5/8″ (4.12cm) blade width, 13/32″ (1.03cm) tang width.
  For numbers 17 & 18 hollows and rounds.

Materials:

Molding Plane Iron Blanks are made from annealed AISI O1 tool steel, unhardened. Irons cannot be returned once they have been cut or heat treated.
